I am seeking a career as a Project Engineer. In December of 2009 I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management and a minor in Business Management. Based on my experience and training, I feel confident that I will be able to perform those tasks required to effectively manage a construction project with an excellent understanding of the construction process and great computer skills. Any construction team will be benefited by my participation.
Specific experience that I have that will be instrumental to the job includes doing work for Garbett Homes, Big-D Construction, and working as a volunteer in Guatemala. While working for Garbett Homes I performed field inspections on a $3 million town home project making sure the buildings were built according to the drawings and specifications as well as Garbett Homes’ standard of quality. Working for Big-D Construction as a laborer and intern I was responsible for marking the location of RFI’s into complex hospital plans (according to the requirements of the contract for that project). As a volunteer in Guatemala I managed the work and welfare of seven other volunteers using Spanish as the primary means of communication.
During my education I was also taught many important skills that will benefit me on the job. At BYU I received OSHA 30-hour training for construction. My computer skills were also highly enhanced. I am proficient in all Microsoft Office programs and many other types of software including SureTrak and Primavera. In my classes I also had to write many reports and frequently gave class presentations that made my verbal and written communication skills excellent.
See my resume with more information about my experience and qualifications.
One of my strengths is my constant desire to improve and to learn. I am also the type of individual that likes to receive and give good ideas that will make the team more effective according to Total Quality Management (TQM) principles. In my opinion, a project is not worth doing unless I give my very best.
I look forward to meeting with you in an interview.
Sincerely,
Christopher Brown
