SUMMARY
John Hopkins has had over 30 years of experience in Architecture. He has provided planning services to major
Institutions and has managed the development of site improvements, and building projects for educational, religious,
civic, military, and corporate clients. Mr. Hopkins has developed a specialty in managing state-of-the-art facilities
involving many disciplines and has developed documentation procedures that identify client requirements in clear terms.
His procedures have been developed specifically to maintain project schedules and budgets through completion and to
minimize change-orders by adhering to strict project checking guidelines.
SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
As Managing Associate with Grillias Pirc Rosier Alves (GPRA) from 1984 to 1995, Mr. Hopkins managed a multidisciplined
staff of over 25 Architects and Engineers and opened their first branch office in 1993. His leadership was
instrumental in developing special programs for commercial development, institutional, and government projects. He
successfully implemented the phased construction of several Master Planned Community Colleges, each comprising
over 100 million dollars of planned facilities and also served as project manager on other comparable corporate,
educational, military, civic, and aerospace projects. Mr. Hopkins performed feasibility studies resulting in funding for
numerous Major Capital Outlay Improvement Projects and served as project manager on Cal State LA’s 27 million dollar
Engineering Building Renovation Project.
In 1995 Mr. Hopkins founded John Hopkins Associates (JHA). Since founding JHA, Mr. Hopkins has managed the design
and construction of educational, religious, commercial, industrial and residential developments throughout California.
John Hopkins has also served other architectural and multi-disciplined firms where he has provided project management,
architectural and planning services. The firm’s organization included employed staff of up to 8 employees and 4
exclusive consulting staff to provide architectural and engineering services at 3 offices. The firm also has provided a
variety of services including construction management, and design/build services. John has developed a specialty in
capital outlay planning and detailed programming of highly equipped facilities for universities and colleges throughout
California and has been instrumental in obtaining over 750 million dollars in funding for projects varying in size from 3
million to 100 million dollars.
In 2008 Mr. Hopkins began working with Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) in their Riverside office, where he served several
K-12 school districts and the County of Riverside while pursuing new business interests of HED in the Higher Educational
