Work Experience
Universal Ensco, Inc., Houston, Texas (April 2008 to May 2009): Worked as the Environmental Manager for Universal Ensco, Inc. (UEI) in Maurice Barnes business group. Tasked with building and developing an environmental department to incorporate natural and cultural resource personnel for the task of linear project surveys and associated environmental compliance contracts. Additionally was tasked with developing new avenues of business, such as creating a renewable energy business group with senior project managers, and expanding services to federal, state, and local governments and private clientele Projects completed included wetlands and threatened and endangered species surveys, impact evaluations, and cultural resources surveys for local city governments.
Ecological Communications Corporation, Austin, Texas (October 2005 to March 2008): Worked as a Senior Biologist for Ecological Communications Corporation (Ecomm). Responsible for obtaining environmental clearance for construction projects, including initiating interagency coordination with state and federal regulatory agencies (Texas Historical Commission, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, US Fish and Wildlife Service, etc.), writing NEPA documents, and coordinating with various other consultants. Certified in wetlands surveying and delineation by Richard Chinn Environmental Training. Subcontracted to perform wetlands and threatened and endangered species (T&E) evaluations for other firms. Performed environmental and T&E surveys and evaluations for the Boeing Company, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security for sensor towers along the entire borders of Mexico, Texas, and New Mexico.
Blanton & Associates, Inc., Austin, Texas (November 2003 to January 2005): Worked as an Environmental Specialist for Blanton & Associates, Inc. Tasked with composing NEPA documents, gathering project background information for various project managers, organizing and performing project site visitations, and assisting with wetland determinations and threatened and endangered species assessments. Most projects were completed for Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), such as various bridge replacements in the Fort Worth District, FM 986 widening in Kaufman County for the Dallas District, and SH 36 widening in Coryell County for the Waco District.
Texas Department of Transportation, Houston District, Houston, Texas (October 2002 to October 2003): Worked as an Environmental Project Coordinator for TxDOT. Responsible for obtaining environmental clearance for construction projects, including initiating interagency coordination with state and federal regulatory agencies (Texas Historical Commission, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, US Fish and Wildlife Service, etc.), setting-up public meetings, writing NEPA documents, and coordinating with various consultants. Gained experience with Arc GIS programs to assist in document production. Assigned up to 60 projects at one time, such as SH 105 widening from Conroe to Cleveland, TX, emergency repair work after the 2002 flooding, and the Airport Boulevard cleanup downtown before the 2003 Super Bowl and MLB All Star Game.
Ecological Communications Corporation, Austin, Texas (August 2002 to October 2002): Worked as a Biologist for EComm. Performed receiving water assessments of several streams and rivers selected for testing by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Duties included electrofishing (both backpack and boat-mounted), seine netting, benthic macroinvertebrate sampling, and transect physical habitat analysis.
Blanton & Associates, Inc., Austin, Texas (January 2002 to March 2002): Worked as a Biological Monitor for Blanton & Associates, Inc. Contracted to monitor construction of gas pipelines for ARB Construction in California. Worked in desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii), burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia), and Mojave ground squirrel (Spermophilus mohavensis) habitat.
Blanton & Associates, Inc., Austin, Texas (October 2000 to July 2001): Worked as a Biological Monitor for Blanton & Associates, Inc. Contracted to monitor construction of fiber-optic cable lines for Level 3 Communications in California and Nevada. Often assisted with administrative duties. Trained to handle desert tortoises with John Wehr of HDR. Coordinated regulation compliance with Bureau of Land Management inspectors, and occasionally representatives of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Conducted over 1,000 hours of desert tortoise monitoring experience. Selected over 40 other biologists by project management to oversee monitoring of entire project and enforce California state permit regulations, similar to the state contracted regulatory inspectors. Would respond to noncompliance situations and assist monitors in need over entire project line, instead of individual construction crews. Also assisted with new monitor training. Responsible only to the project manager and lead biologists.
Midtex Oil, LP (August 1999 to October 2000): Worked as an Administrative Assistant for Midtex Oil, LP. Processed timesheets and payroll for 160 employees. Performed on-site drug testing and hazardous material and job related training for new employees.
