VALUE PROPOSITION
Senior designer, incorporated senior living-hospitality design style
• Creative interiors’ designer who visualized and successfully executed a high-end standard of design that exceeded the expectations of the owners (primary client). Created 5-star-hotel-like senior living communities, which complemented the business model.
• Demonstrated knowledge of 62+-year-old population regarding the aging process, physical limitations, ADA codes, memory deficits affected by environment, and supportive operational programs.
Built up integrated working staff of designers and project managers
• Expanded team from 1 to 10 professionals within 3 years.
• Developed a supportive relationship with each facility’s management and operational staff promoting respect and empowerment.
Established and applied industry specific programming system
• Enlisted management and operations to become invested in the success of the project from initial conception through completion.
• Financial decisions influenced based on accurate facts and information.
• Project outcomes strengthened operation functions.
Supported communities in a dynamic economic environment
• As budgets became increasingly limited, creativity in the application of materials and best purchasing practices, helped to mitigate sudden budget reductions.
Example: FF&E budget of $300k reduced by $48k (16% savings) by alternate material selections, being alert to wholesale manufactures closeout and sale opportunities, and competitive bidding custom furniture manufacturing.
• Conducted frequent construction site reviews. Anticipated issues and inspected for quality control, which limited change orders and final punch lists.
• Tightly managed procurements and verified accounting reconciliations.
Spearheaded initiatives for improvements through consensus-building
• Researched, vetted and negotiated out-sourced services such as purchasing, receiving and delivery, and CAD services, etc. when projects exceeded manpower capabilities.
• Critiqued 3rd party specification and purchasing systems to determine which program best matched the unique design and operations needs of proprietary senior living facilities.
• Initiated solution for a user-friendly on-line time tracking system.
• Formulated an Excel purchase and change order system in conjunction with company cost accountant which developed added organization, established a procedure and ultimately saved costs due to elimination of tracking errors.
• Investigated, tested and instituted a standard of treatment for fabrics and carpeting for senior living care environments that would withstand the wear and abuse factors while maintaining a 5-star hospitality design appearance.
Strengthened team environment through dedicated leadership
• Approached Director, owners and COO with effective team-building outlook.
• Created an energetic and productive environment through mentorship, committed work standards, ethics and dependability.
Conveyed clear design concepts with professional visual design
• Prepared conceptual 3-dimensional illustrations, schematic layouts and initial materials proposals for management’s preliminary project approval decisions.
• Extended on-site problem solving support to contractor and trades applying hand sketched perspectives and illustrated details.
• Conveyed details, models, and mock-ups for manufactures use in the custom fabrication of such items as furniture, millwork and casework.
