PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
John Robertson, AIA is a registered architect specializing in healthcare design and program management for healthcare facilities. Core specialties consist of planning and design, programming, program management, construction administration, design team management, coordination and oversight of medical equipment and medical communications/IT planning for healthcare projects.Mr. Robertson also has a proven track record in directing financing and implementing property disposition strategies related to healthcare real estate for owners and developers.
Mr. Robertson is an active member of the American Institute of Architects and served as a board member and an officer. He has recently served as a member for the Health Environment Research Group at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Mr. Robertson has over twenty four years in healthcare design and healthcare program management. His career began in 1985 as a project manager and includes projects in Europe and across the United States.
Prior to forming ODA, John Robertson served as an Account Executive/Senior Program Manager for Meta Associates (2000 – 2005). His responsibilities included owner representation in the complex implementation of tertiary care hospital projects, outpatient and medical office facilities. Earlier, he managed a satellite office for CMW Architects and Engineers (1996 – 2000) as Director of Business Development/Senior Project Manager. Prior to 1996, he managed the architectural department for Sherlock, Smith and Adams of Montgomery, Alabama.
Mr. Robertson’s experience in healthcare design includes programming and master planning for numerous healthcare facilities. As architect of record, project experience includes tertiary care facilities, specialty hospitals, rural hospitals, medical research, outpatient care, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, medical and dental clinics and medical office buildings.
In a program management role, Mr. Robertson is an able and effective owner representative for healthcare projects of all types. He has developed comprehensive pre qualification evaluation tools for AE and Construction Managers, standard
Owner – AE and Construction Manager Agreements and standards for design and construction. He has developed management tools for project estimating, cost accounting, value engineering and master scheduling for use on all projects. Mr. Robertson has developed standards and procedures for medical equipment and medical communications design, procurement and delivery of healthcare projects on time, in budget and of quality.
