SUMMARY
I am an architect with extensive practice of in design and restoration of new and existing masonry construction. For 17 years, I practiced in Cartagena, Colombia completing projects from design, through construction administration. For the past 8 years, I have honed my skills in the knowledge of the US construction systems by performing detailed and accurate field investigative work, Construction Administration (CA) as well as producing creative solutions in restoration/repair and design procedures.
PROFFESIONAL EXPERIENCE

Architect
 Performed the Construction Administration for Ringling Square, a 5 story office building in downtown Sarasota with an attached multi-story parking tower
 CA on various high-end residences in the Sarasota area, Longboat Key, Bird Key and Holmes Beach, both in modern and traditional architecture, South Trail Design Center, Bay Street Village in Osprey FL the Sunrise Plaza renovation, the new Sign Zoo office and production buildings in Sarasota, Burns Court Villas, a multi-family residential project in the Burns Court area of downtown Sarasota, as well as on various build-outs in different office buildings in Sarasota such as the Sarasota City Center.
 Translation to Spanish of all plan notes for two fishing lodge projects in Costa Rica..
 Creation of full set of construction documents for the Argen Warehouse, a building for a local construction company offices and warehouse.
 Wrote the Specification books for 365 Orange Avenue, a Mid-Rise residential project in the Burns Court area of sarasota; Riverwalk in Ft Myers a high-rise and townhouse complex in downtown Ft Myers; Forrest Lake Condominiums, a multi family mid rise large complex in Sarasota that included the Club House for the Forest Lakes Country Club; Bay Street Village, retail and residential center, Osprey FL and for the Seagate Plaza, a high rise modern building in Ft. Lauderdale FL.
 Researched the specification packages for several projects and product application conditions to choose the best possible product options.
Architect
§ Performed the Construction Administration for five projects for the City of Boston, as well as one for the City of Newton and the Town of Lincoln, in Massachusetts. This CA included shop drawing revision and approval as well as coordination of all the trades involved. Successfully brought to completion these projects with good earnings and high marks for FHCM.S.
§ Designed, specified, drafted and coordinated the production on a project for the City of Newton School system as part of the On-Call Architectural service that FHCM.S executes for the city.
§ Prepared the specification packages for several projects and researched product application conditions to apply the best possible options specified.
§ Collaborated in the production of several projects by coordinating drafting production and project assembly. Also, performed the ADA compliance upgrade on two projects.
2/2001 - 1/2004 CBI Consulting Inc Boston, MA
Architect/Engineer
§ Performed varied Field inspections; all pre-bid walkthroughs; assessed conditions for new proposals; and wrote reports. Through precise assessment of pre-bid conditions, I increased the percentage of projects CBI won.
§ Utilized field equipment such as digital levels, infrared cameras and a pachometer (rebar detector) during the investigations, surveying, and controlling depth of steel on concrete jobs, or performing the leak and failure investigation for school roofs such as the North Attleboro MA Amvet Elementary School, the Allen Avenue school and others.
§ Performed product research and recommended suitable products for diverse situations, such as careful choosing of the epoxy fill material to be used as the display and transportation base for an ancient “Colossal Headâ€, to be put together in the Cairo Museum, Egypt, as part of the itinerant “Quest for Immortalityâ€, exhibit by the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC.
§ Aided the senior structural engineer with investigation for several magazine articles, including taking key pictures as well. I was the author of historical draw bridges in Boston, MA “Fort Point Channel†which appeared on the October 2003 edition of STRUCTURE Magazine; a joint publication of NCSEA/CASE/SEI, of nationwide circulation.
§ On various buildings around Boston MA, I investigated serious water leak damage and collaborated extensively in the design of solutions for these and other related problems; from water testing to the design of details and choosing the most adequate materials for the problem at hand, as well as the design of ADA compliance upgrades. Detected the main origin of leake on an ongoing problem at the Marina Point Towers in Quincy MA.
1/1995 - 7/1999 Consulate of Colombia Boston MA
Vice-Consul
§ Managed the legalization department, issued Visas and provided general counseling pertaining relations between companies and people of the two countries. Actively participated with community groups, as well as interacted constantly with the local government for the betterment of my fellow countrymen living in the New England region.
§ Was fully in charge of the consulate on three occasions and acted as the Temporary Consul or General Manager handling all Consulate operations, responding directly to the Colombian government.
Architect/Contractor
Between 1985 and 1995 I worked independently as an Architect developing projects through completion. All my design work was done by hand, and a high percentage was in the area of Residential Restorative design and construction, mostly colonial masonry structures with wooden floors and roofs, in the old section of town. I formed and directed a team of drafters and construction crews, highly specialized in masonry restoration techniques. The list of projects in which I was involved is varied from hospitals, to residential, commercial, industrial, including the entertainment industry.
