Ohio work experience overview:
I have been with Design Forum Architects in Dayton Oh., as a Project Director / Project Architect. I was currently managing the due diligence; code review / QC plan review, permitting, coordination for all projects within the firm. I have been responsible for maintaining and reviewing all codes in every jurisdiction DF has projects with. I am familiar with all of the codes in the United States and most of the proveniences in Canada. Prior to this employment I was with Lorenz Williams, Oh, as a project manager. I was responsible for helping the firm develop a project management team that would be a middle management level position to free up the principals from the day to day project responsibilities and interface with principal project architects. I manage projects for the medical, k-12 and university clients for the assigned projects. I was a mentor to junior project staff in developing their skills. Description: I was the project Architect for two major projects in the automotive group and PA for the Interiors group while at Design Forum, along with developing other clients. In general, my duties have been overall management of the projects and reporting to the VP and principal in charge for my projects.
1. New Prototype Dealer Facility for Chrysler Corp.
The new prototype is a $20 Million retail facility showcasing the new concept of combining all of the Daimler Chrysler products in one retail facility for the customers. My responsibilities for this project were to take design concept and develop a design that would meet all of the program needs of the client and be within the time frame for processing and construction. We were successful in completing the design development construction documents and processing them through Clark County NV in 4.5 months and construction was complete in 115 days.
I was responsible for refining the concept assisting in the design, schedules developing and negotiating consultant’s fees and budgets, manpower allocations, consultant and owner contracts and coordination, client meetings /documentation. Doing overview management of production documents, consultants, writing the specifications, I did the processing through Clark County, shop drawing review, construction administration for the project.
The Project was complete in 115 days with no change orders other then ORC’s (Owner Requested Changes). This project the fastest new ground up facility that built by Chrysler Corp. It was showcased at the NADA (National Auto Dealers Assoc.) show in Las Vegas this February as Chrysler’s new flagship dealership.
2. Rehabilitation of Manhattan Chrysler Jeep Dodge
This project involved two buildings in Manhattan. One was a two story sales facility and the other was a five-story sale and service shop.
The projected construction cost $15 Million.
My responsibilities for this project were to take design concept of the prototype major elements that could be included in the project and that would meet all of the program needs of the client and incorporate them into this design. I was responsible for doing schedules, developing manpower allocations, coordination with budgets, client meetings /documentation. In addition to refining program requirements, reviewing of projected construction costs. I was responsible for overview management of production documents, all consultants, and assisting in writing the specifications.
3. Rehabilitation of interior high-rise corporate offices.
This is a series of projects in NY/ Manhattan, Connecticut, Boston, and Miami just to name a few.
I was responsible for coordinating with our Interior Designer’s developing the overall project management of architectural construction documents, schedules developing, manpower allocations, and coordination with budgets and contracts. As a team we meet with clients and refined program requirements, reviewed projected construction costs, doing overview management of production documents. I was the interface with clients and all consultants. writing the specifications and doing some of the construction management. The projects ranged in size from 3,000 square feet to 24,000 square feet in size. I would travel to New York and work out of our NY office for 2-3 days a week, primarily to coordinate with the clients, consultants and constructors.
4. Managing the due diligence, code review / QC plan review, specifications
I was responsible for Permitting, coordination for all projects within the firm. I have been responsible for maintaining and reviewing all codes in every jurisdiction DF has projects with. Clients include Sprint, T- Mobile, WAMU Bank, Chase Bank, Golf Smith, Food Lion Stores, Jo Ann Stores, JC Penny, and Holiday Inn
5. Development of survey forms and standards for the firm.
I was responsible for developing a new survey form and standards for the firm that incorporated all Architectural, Structural & MEP conditions for existing building reviews for modification for our clients. I developed a new standard sheet for Life Safety Standards for the firm’s construction documents. We reviewed and updated all code sheets for new code implications. An example of this is the new ANSI A-117.1 2003 code changes & the new California codes that are now using the IBC code for a base code and the new Title 24 codes for both energy and accessibility. In addition to all of the other codes across the country like the new NYC 2008, Los Angeles City 2008, Chicago codes for building and MEP.

1. New interior lab space
I was the project manager for WKNI neuroscience institute in the new Boonshoff Medical Center at Kettering Hospital. My responsibilities included the design of the fourth layout of this facility. This floor contained a bio lab, MRI, micro imaging and Meg units along with general offices. I developed the program needs, evaluated the type of equipment needs, locations and systems requirements. I coordinated with the project manager for the building shell, on structural, electrical, mechanical, and code issues. This project is just finishing design development, and starting construction document stage.
2. Rehabilitation of offices for Dermologists of Southwest Ohio, Dr. Levitt
This project involved developing a new plan and expanding the existing spaces within the building shell space.
My responsibilities for this project were to develop a design concept of the major elements that could be included in the project and that would meet all of the program needs of the client and incorporate them into this design. I was responsible for developing schedules, manpower allocation, and coordination with budgets, client meetings /documentation, refining program requirements, reviewing of projected construction costs. I was responsible for overall management of production documents, consultants, assisting in writing the specifications.
3. Developing site feasibility studies for Dayton Public Schools for five locations within the district
This project involved developing feasibility studies to evaluate the site to accommodate new facilities within the OSFC regulations. Developing new basic plans, and site plans for existing school sites and feasibility of use.
4. Developing a building and site analysis for Westminster Church in Dayton
This project involved developing a building assessment examination including the basic fabric of the building elements: floors, walls, windows, and roofing. Historical preservation review for long term goals of rehabilitation, building systems including, electrical, mechanical, sound, and lighting issues on a room by room basis. We provided a phased approach to achieve the goals as they related to levels of both current and long term needs for the facility.

Description: I was the project manager for four major projects while at Carrier Johnson, along with developing other clients and responding to various RFP proposals. In general, my duties have been overall management of the projects and reporting to the principal in charge for my projects.
1. Hewitt Hall for UCI.
Hewitt Hall is a $20 Million medical research laboratory with a Bio-safety level 3 labs for the George Hewitt research medical foundation. My responsibilities for this project were to take the RFP and develop a design build project with Hensel Phelps Construction that would meet all of the program needs of the DPP and be within the Universities proposed budget.
We were successful in competing against Nelsen Dellham Construction and EHDD Architects for this project. I was responsible for developing the RFP responses, assisting in the design, doing schedules developing and negotiating architectural fees and budgets, manpower allocations, consultant and owner contracts and coordination, client meetings /documentation, Doing overview management of production documents, and all consultants, writing the specifications, processing through DSA and state fire marshal, shop drawing review, construction administration and invoicing / billing for the project.
This Project was completed January 10, 2003 it is 4 weeks ahead of schedule and on budget projections.
2. Heritage Park Aquatic Complex, City of Irvine CA
Heritage Park Aquatic Complex is a new three pool (two 50 meter competition pools and a 25 yard instructional pool with a 13,000 sq ft. shower/locker/office facility)
The projected construction cost is Twelve Million Dollars.
My responsibilities included developing and negotiating architectural fees and budgets, owner and consultant contracts, presenting the project in public meetings, schedules developing, manpower allocations, and coordination. We did all of the overview management of production documents, and all consultants, writing the specifications and processing through DSA, Health department and City agencies.
3. Pool Feasibility Study, City of Irvine CA
In conjunction with Heritage Park Aquatic Complex I reviewed the possible placement of three additional pool sites within the City of Irvine. Two of these sites were at local high schools for a possible Joint venture between the Irvine Unified School District and the City. The last site was a City park site that a local HOA wanted the City to develop along with Heritage Park as and anchors for the other projects for the City.
We developed the programs and designs for the sites and cross comparisons of the sites with a matrix of plusses and minuses for each as they related to cost/ contractibility, use/ location within the city and many other factors that clearly defined the highest and best site unitizations. I presented the project in public meetings both to the City, School Board, and public swim groups and, Client meetings /documentation.
4. Carmel Highland Doubletree Hotel Renovation and Conference Facility Rancho Bernardo, San Diego, CA.
Carmel Highland Doubletree Hotel Renovation and Conference Facility was a major addition to this project consisting of adding 80 guest rooms and parking structure, new conference facility, ball room, kitchen and all associated spaces for this type of facility.
Reconfiguring the site use, spaces and adding an additional parking structure for the Conference facility. I coordinated with the golf course architect in master planning the redesign of the project with this additional program and golf course area. The construction cost of the guest/ conference facilities and the parking structures was $45 Million. I was responsible for developing and negotiating architectural fees and budgets, owner and consultant contracts, developing the program requirements, directing design. doing schedules developing, manpower allocations, and coordination with budget, client meetings /documentation, refining program requirements, reviewing of projected construction costs, Presenting the project in public meetings City Planning / Design Review Agencies for the C.U.P. phase of the project. Description: This includes three projects in the Wm. S. Hart Union High School District. The three projects were the new Rio Norte and the Rancho Pico junior High Schools and the moderation of the Sierra Vista junior High School, with an overlap design with the new Boys and Girls Club as a joint use facility.
My responsibilities for Rancho Pico were to do Q&A on this project with the San Diego office and to continue to process the project through DSA back check. The Rio Norte project was a reuse of the Rancho Pico project. I was responsible for CDE submittal 407 OPSC submittals SB 50 Coordinate with DTSC consultants on both projects. I was responsible for overview management of production documents, specifications, and all consultants. I was responsible for project processing to through DSA. We did the presentation boards for the project for School Board approval. We assisted the school district in contract development of joint use agreement for the Norte site development and with other public agencies. My responsibilities for the Sierra Vista project was to take the OPSC funding package of documents and develop a design program with the client, coordinate with the Boys and Girls Club PA on design on this Joint use facility.
