Career Overview
With more than 25 years of combined electrical field, management and operations experience, I bring a strong commitment and successful track record to a company’s growth and profitability while building strategic and desired long term client and industry partner relationships. As a self-disciplined, dependable manager with intuitive approaches and effective rapport building skills both internally within an organization and externally with clients, these skill sets are an asset to all aspects of operational management, supervision, sales and customer service related positions.
Professional Experience
Corbins Electric - Phoenix, Arizona / April 2006 through August 2009
Initially recruited by Corbins as a Project Manager in the Company’s new construction division, I personally managed a variety of mid to large size projects with contract values up to $3 million, consisting primarily of large, stand-alone big box department stores and new, public elementary school campuses. Responsibilities involved all aspects of establishing accurate budgets; estimating; accounting and job cost tracking; securing and coordinating of all field supervision, crews, and sub-subcontractors; job set up / close out; reviewing and responding timely to all contract documents and requirements; and liaison to our clients to ensure the successful and timely completion and follow through of all project related work.
As Division Manager for the special projects group producing $4.8 million in annual revenues, which primarily focused on smaller scale upgrade and retrofit type projects, service work and tenant improvement work, I personally directed and supervised the complete staff of project managers, administrative / clerical support, field superintendent, and a crew of more than 20 at any given time. In this leadership capacity, and in addition to the project manager job responsibilities which I mentored to my staff, I also worked in a sales type capacity to specifically build and maintain strategic client relationships to help grow this particular sector of the company’s operations.
The role of Arizona Operations Manager, a key position of the Company’s Senior Management Team, included the day-to-day responsibility for coordinating, managing and mentoring the Arizona-based staff of project managers (8), project engineers (3), administrative /clerical support (4), and field superintendents (4), while facilitating the necessary communication and follow through with our internal team members in preconstruction, estimating, virtual construction, pre-fabrication, accounting, human resources, payroll and IT. As a result of the 2008 restructuring of the Company’s operations, the Arizona division represented in excess of 60% of the annual contract related revenues.
Key projects completed / Kohl’s East Mesa and Oro Valley ($1.2 million); Florence K-8 Schools ($1 million); Camelback Inn Ballroom Expansion and Lodge Renovation ($6.5 million); Goodyear-Cleveland Indians Ballpark ($3.9 million); City of Phoenix Civic Space ($1.3 million); Sky Harbor Terminal 3 Electrical Upgrades ($8.5 million); MedImpact Data Centers Phase I & II ($3.5 million); City of Mesa South CAP ($5.6 million); and Scottsdale Community College Science Building ($2.3 million).
Integrated Electrical Services Inc. (IES) - Tigard, Oregon / November 2003 through April 2006
In the capacities of both Project Manager and Estimator, I worked with a variety of Owners, General Contractors, Design Professionals and Engineers to produce the initial designs, budgets and feasibility studies for numerous construction projects in the Pacific Northwest that included design build and other complex applications in large scale urban renewal, commercial office, retail, condominium and other mixed use facilities with contract values in the $6 million range.
Berg Electric - Portland, Oregon / November 2000 through November 2003
Bachofner Electric – Portland, Oregon / October 1987 through November 2000
For both of these employers, in progressively responsible roles of Journeyman Electrician, Site Foreman and General Foreman, I was responsible for managing up to 60 or more electrical craft workers at multiple site locations, maintaining job cost and scheduling requirements, developing and training employees in safe work practices and quality scope installations. My project portfolio includes commercial electrical work in custom residential homes, tenant improvements, mixed use facilities, commercial office and retail environments, and hospitality venues including the new construction of a 20-story tower for Hilton Hotels.
