Subject: Statement of Qualifications for Employment
To Whom It May Concern
I would like to submit this Statement of Qualifications for employment.
I have been working in the field of architecture for 16 years. My last architectural position was Project Manager for the Island Grove High Rise Condominiums in Galveston, a 13 floor $20 million facility. My company held the overall Architectural Services contract with the Developer. I did most of my design work from my Corpus Christi office and started to monitor the construction from my Galveston field office just prior to the project being suspended.
Since, I have spent the last 15 months being a Construction Project Manager for a mid-size construction firm in Corpus Christi. I spent some time estimating and the rest managing four construction projects; a design-build for Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church (a $1.7 million new Sanctuary building), a design-build Tactical Air Navigation replacement facility for the Naval Air Station Kingsville, a hard bid construction project for Saint John’s United Methodist Church (a $1.9 million new Community Life Center), and a negotiated construction project for the Digital Airport Surveillance Radar infrastructure for the Naval Air Station Kingsville.
As you can see, I am proficient in all phases of the architectural design process; however I seem to enjoy assisting the architectural design process and performing construction administration. Since 1997 I have performed architectural design services along with construction administration on such projects as The Historic LaSalle Hotel, The Historic Pix Building, Galtex Pilot Headquarters, a Corpus Christi Housing Authority renovation project, the majority of the Brooks County ISD Bond 2000 Program, the Refugio ISD Re-roofing Program, Ocean Grove High Rise Condominiums, and the New Zapata County Courthouse. Many of theses projects required significant site visits and travel on a weekly basis.
You will also find that I take continued education very seriously having completed such programs as NCARB’s Architect Intern Development Program, USGBC’s LEED for New Construction Workshop, Primavera’s Contractor Scheduling Course 700, Southern Building Code Congress International’s Non Structural Building Code Plan Reviewer Course, Associated General Contractor’s Supervisory Training Program, seven safety classes given by the Contractors Safety Council, Zweig White’s Advanced Project Management Training, and several AIA Houston Chapter presented Contract Dispute Classes. I am currently working with the State on my ARE.
Thank you for your consideration. Please call me with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Amos Byington
