I am a Uniform Building Code Inspector / Plans Examiner / Regulation Building Code Administration and Inspectors. More than twenty six (26) years experience in the Inspection, Planning, Design, Construction, and Contract Administration of public schools and commercial buildings, including twenty (20) years inspecting large construction projects, small projects, mold and mildew - environmental projects, safety inspections, and portable and modular classroom buildings with the School Board of Broward County. Currently a Licensed Building Inspector with The State of Florida - Department of Business and Professional Regulation - License IL-859. Work as a liaison with the Project Manager, Consultant, and School Administrator to keep them informed of the status of the work and any problems that are foreseen at the school and construction site. Evaluate the contractor’s payment request when the percentage of work is complete. Review construction documents for code violations and become familiar with the work to be inspected. Provide pre-occupancy evaluation inspections for Life-Safety Currently and Contract Documents and Environmental Management. Work closely with the consultants and monitor the testing lab reports at each contract site. Attend pre-construction meetings and assist in the review of the schedule of values. Ensure that all projects are in compliance with the State Codes, School Board Policies, and Standard Practices for quality control. Represent the School Board at depositions and legal meetings in regard to the legal aspects of the contract when needed. Evaluate the consultant and contractor’s performance each year.

Represent the School Board of Broward County on construction sites to approve work for compliance and completion. Inspect work for code compliance and reject if the work is in non-conformance with the contract. Review plans and contracts before projects go out for bid. Keep an accurate record of assigned construction projects, mold/mildew projects, maintenance projects, additions and renovations, leased facilities, safety projects and portables and modular classrooms. Monitor As-built drawings on site. Attend weekly meetings on site with the contractor, Architect, and project manager. Approve requisitions by the general contractor for work completed and verify that the contractor does not exceed the budget that is allocated for the percentage of the job's completion.
Document with written and computerized field reports to ensure that all work is in compliance with the contract documents and applicable building codes, safety and district policies.
Perform pre-occupancy inspections for leased facilities, portables and modular classrooms, to ensure that the buildings meet the needs of educational program, code compliance, and safety. Implement my knowledge of OSHA, EPA, Department of Education, SREF, and all other applicable standards and regulations for design and construction of the educational facilities.
Perform final occupancy inspections at the completion of construction projects for code compliance, safety, technology, equipment and furniture.
Evaluate school sites for mold / mildew problems involving water intrusion and indoor air quality.
Work as a liaison between the general contractor, district maintenance, the school administrators and the Facilities Department.
Developed and maintained the Code Compliance Department’s Library for reference material for inspectors and others. Attend classes to enhance my certifications and knowledge of the codes with the Department of Education and the Department of Business and Professional Relations. Maintain and report to the Building Official all operations and productivity through automated computer programs and tracking device including photos and daily reports.
Screen applicants applying for positions with the district within the facilities and building department. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
