Department 485 is seeking a highly motivated candidate to support design and construction of COLUMBIA Class propulsion plant fluid systems. D485 is responsible for the design, development, and construction support of reactor plant and steam plant fluid systems in the COLUMBIA Class propulsion plant. Responsibilities include fluid system analysis, design calculations, system diagram development, arrangement integration, design disclosure development, material and component selection, operating procedure development, test procedure development, and interfacing with the customer and vendors.
D485 engineers are also responsible for fluid system construction support; including:
Disposition of Change Requests/Change Notices (CR/CN) and test inspection reports (TIRs)/UNSATs.
Disposition of vendor information requests (VIRs).
Construction surveillance of systems
Providing technical support to shipyard test organizations during test events such as engine room steaming, power range testing, and propulsion plant sea trials.
Individuals selected for this position will be responsible for development and execution of projects supporting current and future COLUMBIA Class design efforts, design changes, and system improvement tasking. This position requires continued progression of technical and project management skills
Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Marine, Civil, Chemical or equivalent engineering degree
4-9 years of related engineering experience
Advanced engineering degree
Experience with fluid systems and components
